Hola! Welcome to my Wedding Photography blog!
For those who are visiting for the first time it’s great to have you here! Bienvenidos! If you plan to be married in Mexico… Congratulations! I am convinced that destination weddings are uniquely magical adventures and that there could be no better destination than Mexico.
I am a firm believer that wedding photography is not about ME, the photographer, but absolutely about YOU… the bride and groom. But in case anyone is wondering about the person behind the lens here is a bit of background. A US native who has lived most of her adult life in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula I speak both Spanish and English fluently and also feel equally at home in both cultures. I became a photographer because of my love of art, people (especially children) and nature and have shown my fine art photography in galleries and museums (for the photo geeks Polaroid transfer, fiber based black and white printing and Cibachrome are some of my favorite techniques).
After owning and operating a busy portrait studio for four years I realized I had an overflowing schedule of both portraits and weddings. With no interest in being responsible for employee photographers or “growing” my business, I took a deep breath and made the difficult decision narrow my focus and specialize in wedding photojournalism. I could not be happier! I know you will understand why when you scroll through this blog and meet the interesting, admirable and absolutely in-love couples I have had the opportunity to photograph. That I am able to do so in some of the most unique and beautiful locations imaginable throughout Mexico is icing on the cake. I photograph love, promise, joy, emotion, beauty, happiness, family ties, and crazy celebrating. Could there be any better subjects?
As may be apparent on looking through my portfolio, my imagery comes from the heart. Because it is important to me to keep my art personal in nature I photograph a limited number of weddings, photograph all of my weddings myself rather than having staff photographers and I also enjoy being there for my clients at every stage of the way, from the planning, through the big day and after as I edit images, and prepare slide shows, and my signature wedding albums. I think this personal focus lends itself to the creation of imagery that goes deeper than a collection of cool shots (although I am constantly on the lookout for those!), I try to create photographs that are as beautiful and powerful as the memories that the bride and groom will have from the day.
My idea of a successful image is one that brings memories not only of how things looked on the wedding day but how wonderful it felt to experience them. Each and every wedding I photograph is a beautiful story and I consider it my responsibility and honor to tell that story completely and in its absolute best light.
So please look through the blog and my website (don’t miss the main site’s portfolio section with some of my all time favorite images) And one hint…the blog is now categorized by location and type of weddings, so if you are interested in seeing weddings at a particular venue or getting ideas about beach weddings, hacienda weddings or trash the dress sessions please check out the new archives section!
Best Wishes!
Elizabeth
